Success!

Today I enjoyed a really nice day! Both DH and I were off from work, and we had warm, sunny, blue sky weather. We slept in, ran a few errands, and took care of some stuff around the apartment.

The highlight of my day was going to SnB. Not only did I have a great time chatting with everyone and seeing finished projects and works in progress, but I also finished knitting my first sock! It’s nowhere near perfect, but I am super excited that I actually knit a sock! Woooo hooooo!!!

Baby sock (pattern from Socks Socks Socks)

Violet taught me the Kitchener stitch and helped me with the grafting at the toe. Thanks Violet!

I’m not planning to knit the second sock since this one was just for practice. I’ll have to look through my books and figure out which pattern I want to attempt next.

That’s all from me for now…Hope you have a great weekend!

I just sewed one of the side seams of the Klaralund! I followed the seaming instructions in Stitch N Bitch and it wasn’t as horrible as I thought it would be! The instructions are pretty good. My seam is definitely not perfect — I think I pulled the yarn tighter at some points, but overall I’m satisfied with it. I’m just thrilled that I learned how to do this! =)

How are you supposed to end the mattress stitch? I couldn’t find the instructions for that so I sort of tacked the yarn the way I did at the beginning. Is there a better way?

Hopefully I’ll have time to sew the other side seam tomorrow. The two sleeves are now on the blocking board. Not quite sure when I’ll have time to seam the sleeves to the body. I think that will be harder for me so it might have to wait until I have a chunk of time over the weekend.

I am sooooo happy to announce that the Cloud Poncho is finally off the needles!!! Woooooo hooooooooo!! I finished it last night and weaved in the ends today. Once I get more blocking pins I will block and seam it. I’ll post a picture once it’s done.

For the first time since I started knitting at Thanksgiving, I have absolutely nothing on the needles. Very strange!

Finally…A Finished Object!

I finally finished the double seed stitch scarf today!!! =) Yay!!! Yay!!! Yay!!! (Can you tell that I’m excited???)

Three skeins of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yielded a total of about 70 inches, so this is definitely the longest scarf I own. I feel like I’ve been working on it forever, so I’m really glad that it’s done. Of course, the temperature is supposed to be in the low- to mid-seventies this week, so I won’t be able to wear it yet. But I’m not complaining since I love sunny-blue-sky-sandal weather!

Klaralund Sleeve

I met my goal and the first sleeve came off the needles on Friday night!!! Wooo hoooo!!

Just one more sleeve to go. I wanted to get the first sleeve done before sending my defective Addis back to Elann. Well, I was *so* surprised when I got an email from Elann on Friday morning saying that they got my replacement Addis in stock and that it shipped out on Friday. I hadn’t even sent back the defective ones yet!!! Now, is that excellent customer service or what??? Elann really does go the extra mile for their customers, which is why I like them so much. My needles should arrive tomorrow, so I can get a move on the second sleeve!

In the wee hours of the morning today, I started a new project…for now I will refer to it as The Unnamed Object since it’s a gift. =) I made some good progress on it and am quite happy with how it’s turning out so far. Will post pictures later on when the time is right. Maybe I will attempt socks when I am halfway through Unnamed.

This afternoon I went to another knitting group. I met a lot of very nice ladies and saw some really neat projects. However, I felt more comfortable at SnB and thus will stick to SnB as my knitting group.

Lastly, I got a very nice email and a cute e-card from my secret pal!!! =) She sounds very nice and friendly and I was happy to hear from her! This weekend I also did some shopping for the person that I’m the secret pal for. I can’t wait to send out her package!!!
